Oatland Island is nicknamed, "Savannah's Zoo".  Our class was able to enjoy the variety of wildlife and plant life during our excursion on the nature trail.  Oatland Island also serves as an educational center that hosts school field trips, staff development seminars, and science related workshops.

One of the most interesting exhibits at Oatland Island was the Aviary.  Visitors were allowed to walk into an enclosed environment that housed trees, marshlands, and birds of varying species.  It was like being a part of the exhibit.

This adventure was the last field experience for our class.  It was not uncommon for one of my colleagues to engage the class in a discussion based on previous field experiences and research.  We all were able to gain useful knowledge.  It was very rewarding to see the growth we all made while participating in the environmental science class.
